Green Travel

Perigord Welcome is very concerned about the deterioration of our natural environment.  The decrease of biodiversity and climate change have become real threats for our planet and humankind.

It is not too late to do something about that.  We are determined that things can change thanks to good will, work, education, and collaboration. That is why we decided to change our way of working.  We have become a light environmental footprint operator.

Our first step on this long journey is the creation of a label.

The attribution of our Label involves 4 main aspects:

Transportation

  • Longer transfers will be made by train or electric vehicle.
  • Shorter transfers, we’ll offer as much as possible carbon neutral transportation options such as: hiking, biking, e-biking, horse riding or canoeing.

Accommodation

  • Accommodation will be provided by local hotels involved in an ecological perspective. It may be low environmental impact buildings
  • Renewable energy source, water resources management, or eco-friendly management of the laundry and the amenities.

Food and Plastic

  • Food will be provided by local restaurants using fresh and locally sourced ingredients according to the season.
  • Wide vegetarian options.
  • Reusable tumblers and containers will be given to the travelers to avoid plastic waste.
  • Water refill will be planned during the day.
  • Snack will include fruit, cheese, bread or locally baked cake all plastic packaging free.

Content

  • We pay attention in the choice of the content, sites and speaker to bring awareness and educational contents to the travelers.
  • Running away for the mass tourism sites we try as much as possible to brings income to the local communities.
